The Twenty-First Week in Review

Where have I been for the past 4 weeks? My last post talked about hitting my goal weight of 185. That was then…this is nowI had set my goal way back in January, 185 lbs by September 30, 2010. I assumed that was pretty lofty given a few conditions:

  • I had never dieted in a serious way before
  • I’ve gained weight consistently for the past 15 years
  • Current lifestyle of having 2 kids under the age of 4 works against healthy eating
  • Schedule makes it tough to get in time to exercise

Given those conditions, losing 48 lbs in 38 weeks seemed pretty unlikely, but I figured what the hell. After the amazing results by the end of January (almost 20 lbs in one month), I was feeling pretty confident. Little did I know that I’d hit goal just 17 weeks after starting this, less than half the time I had allotted.

So what’s happened since then? Well, I have continued to trend downward. As of this post, I am at 180.5 lbs. Statistically speaking, that puts me at -52.5 lbs for the year, and -62.5 lbs since my peak. I found this article to search what 60 lbs of fat looks like – http://chrisberryonthe.net/2009/06/02/what-does-60-pounds-of-fat-look-like/

This was the most fascinating part of it -

butter

240 sticks of butter.

donut

523 Krispy Kreme donuts.

bacon

1440 strips of bacon.

Its also 10 lbs more than the combined weight of my 2 kids (ages 3.25 yrs and 17 months). Put in to those terms, its pretty remarkable.

Going forward, goal continues to flex. I think 175 feels like a good number, but more importantly I would LOVE to be able to wear Medium shirts and 30-32″ waist paints/shorts. I tried on some 34′s the other day and they were a bit loose, so I may be closing in on one of those goals!
